If you can fill a gap in the market, then it's definitely a viable idea; otherwise what caused the downfall of tablets is they weren't meant for any specific purpose. Like they had bigger screens than a traditional smartphone; but was still based on OS for smartphones, nor the hardware or software was capable enough to take on Laptops.

What changed the scenario is definitely Apple iPad Pro that targeted it towards designers, and that is what Microsoft is following too!
